Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee

Hello! My name is Vanessa, and I am currently a Marriage and Family Therapy trainee pursuing my master’s degree at Touro University California. I’ve spent the past several years working as a high school counselor in the Sacramento City Unified School District, supporting young people academically, emotionally, and personally as they navigate important stages of their lives.

After the pandemic, I saw a growing need for deeper mental health support. My work shifted from primarily college and career guidance to helping students and families manage anxiety, stress, depression, and other emotional challenges. When many of my students continued seeking guidance after graduation, I knew I wanted to expand my role in the community.

My goal as a trainee therapist is to combine my background in education with my clinical training to support individuals in understanding where they are, discovering who they want to be, and building a meaningful path forward.
